“Love Aaj Kal”; Practicality And Love Do Not Go Together

An interesting concept, good songs/music, decent acting performances, some very romantic scenes and dialogs but I still did not like the movie as much as I should have considering that all the ingredients were present.

I do not think that anything was missing in this movie but I disliked the overall presentation of the movie. The idea of overlapping of past and present storylines is good but somehow I feel that its execution requires much more talent in direction and editing than what was visible in the movie.

The concept of the movie though makes you think. The overly modernistic love, the cool breakup, post breakup camaraderie and the constant struggle between love and practicality are very thoughtful. It almost seems to say that the lovers value their love much more after going through a separation.

I found the airport phone call post breakup to be the most amusing part of the movie where both of them are freely criticizing each other since they do not need to be good for each other.
